Joanna is a joint degree student pursuing her MBA at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC-Chapel Hill and a Masters of Environmental Management at Duke. Originally from Yonkers, NY she moved west for college, graduating from the University of Montana with a degree in Biology. During the four years prior to attending graduate school she managed educational programs for the non-profit organization Sierra Nevada Journeys (SNJ) in Reno, NV. Over this past summer, she participated in an Ethnographic Field School in Guatemala to develop qualitative field skills, executing an independent research project using participant observation. Through this dual degree program she hopes to develop the skills necessary to address complex environmental decisions, while effectively incorporating social justice and economic feasibility into solutions.
