DCCC Celebrates Small Business Month with Look at Innovation

The Davidson County Community College is hosting a series of events to consider how innovation can be used to spring board small business development. On May 2, DCCC led a tour of the Manufacturing Solutions Center in Hickory. On May 9 the college sponsored a tour in Winston-Salem with Scott Betz, interim director of the Center for Design Innovation and then continued to the Greensboro Hackerspace. The college will also host the Small Business Summit: Innovation in Business & Marketing on Wednesday, May 21. This full-day event will feature innovators in business, marketing practices, and community development. Opening speaker is Leslie Boney, UNC System Vice President for International, Community, and Economic Engagement. Mr. Boney coordinates university-wide efforts to internationalize campuses and affiliated organizations, to increase community service work, to collaborate with economic development organizations and businesses in strengthening the state’s economy and works with the University’s research and sponsored programs to bolster technology transfer efforts.
Pre-registration is required. To find out more information visit the Small Business Center website at www.davidsonccc.edu/sbc or contact director, Martha Larson, at mlarson@davidsonccc.edu or (336-224-4557)
